PT Master Plan, Trail Cleanup, and Pipeline Parade float

Pipeline Trail Master Plan

This Saturday afternoon (Sept. 19) from 2 to 4 at the Steam Museum, come out and see what’s comin’ down the pipes. Really! The Pipeline Trail has been the subject of a Master Plan, a year-long project coordinated by the City of Hamilton, with significant leadership from citizens in the trailside neighbourhoods of Crown Point and Homeside. On Saturday we get to see the final version of the plan. The City really HAS listened to our comments and ideas. We can expect more good things to happen on the trail over the next few years.

So please come out on Saturday, enjoy some refreshments, a FREE tour of the Steam Museum, and see what good things are on the way. Bring the kids– there will be a supervised and stocked childrens’ play area.

For more information about the Pipeline Trail visit the
Master Plan page on City of Hamilton web site

Trail cleanup

Meet at 6:00 p.m. Wed. Sept. 23, on the trail at the London St. crossing. We will clean up the section from London to Kenilworth. Bags and gloves will be provided. All are welcome.

Also, a note for Garden Club regulars: next Wednesday Sept. 23 is the fourth Wednesday of the month, when we would normally have our regular meeting at the ARCH. BUT that is also the night of the trail cleanup event. So, there will be no meeting. Which doesn’t mean we can’t talk shop, er, flowers, while picking up trash on the trail. Plan for a martini at the Black Sheep afterwards.

Parade Float

Paper flower practices waving at the crowd! This is one of several crafty creations destined for the Garden Club float in the Pipeline Parade (Sat. Sept 26). Our big yellow flower enjoys a moment with her real-life cousin Dahlia.

And don’t forget the Pipeline Parade next Saturday Sept. 26. Float assembly will happen in the morning at 9:30 am (not the night before as originally planned) Meet at the staging area behind the Tim Hortons at Roxborough and Kenilworth. Wear a costume! Dress up your dog! The Garden Club float will be a delight to create– and pull– with its huge flowers and bees.
